If you are just engaged and are not sure where to start planning your wedding flowers for your Dorset wedding this blog post will guide you through with advice from a highly experienced Dorset wedding florist with over thirty years experience working on weddings throughout Dorset and Hampshire ensuring you will have the most beautiful of wedding flowers and also ensuring you enjoy the wedding flower process along the way.

Choosing your Wedding Florist.

There are many talented wedding florists out there with varying styles to choose from so it's really important that you choose a wedding style you are drawn to , who's work do you like or adore have you been to a wedding and your breath is taken away by beautiful blooms.

Research your wedding florist at the start find a wedding florist who's style aligns with your vision for your wedding day flowers. Look at their websites , social media , at their real wedding photographs see if they are at wedding fairs and go and meet them and chat with them see if you click and that they are enthusiastic knowledgeable and understand your vision.

In researching your wedding florists background and their experience in weddings remember your wedding is one of the most important and special days of your life and you must have and deserve to have a highly experienced wedding florist. They must be professional and be able to show you weddings they have worked on and be able to answer all your questions and queries.

Choose a local florist , personally I try to stay within a couple of hours of my studio we may need to be at a venue early in the morning of the day of the wedding to set up ,we may be working on large installations that take time to create.

When should I book my wedding Florist.

As soon as you have booked your date and venue start researching your wedding florist experienced good wedding florists will be booked early as much as twelve to eighteen months in advance and only take one wedding per weekend or even a week.

Summer dates and bank holidays are key wedding dates and will be booked very quickly so secure your wedding date with your booking fee as soon as you can.

What do we need to research before we see our Wedding Florist ?

Pinterest is a good place to start and look for wedding flower inspiration, think about dresses ,colours and styles, bouquet styles, wedding and ceremony arrangements Pinterest is a really good place to put your wedding visions as a wedding florist I find it a great insight into your wedding flowers and ideas for your special day, create yourself a wedding board its a great place to put your thoughts !

Think about your venue and where your ceremony will be held , are you having a marquee or barn for your wedding day ?

By choosing the right wedding florist their experience will guide through the right style arrangements and bouquets and flower choices for the season you are marrying in .

Share with your wedding florist pictures of flowers , dresses , suits , stationary all is helpful when producing the wedding flower proposal if you have fabric samples bring them to your consultation so your florist can add them to your wedding flower file.

Don't worry too much about flower varieties your wedding florist will guide you there and suggest beautiful flowers for your wedding when your wedding flower mood boards and proposal is produced the vision of your wedding flowers will be seen ,this will really help you see the vision that your wedding florist sees for your wedding day.

What is the Wedding Flower Process and How do we Budget for Flowers.

Every wedding florist is different I work firstly with a twenty minute chat to see if our floral vision aligns from there you secure your wedding date with your booking fee I send out to you your contract a brief form to tell more about your day then we schedule in your full consultation where we talk in detail about your wedding day.

After this I produce mood boards and wedding flower proposal and quote and if needed site visits booked in . Throughout the wedding flower process I am there to answer questions, your final consultation is then booked in where the final adjustments are made one month before your wedding flower invoice is issued and will need to be paid in full.

Budgeting for your wedding flowers is hard as most couples are unaware how much flowers cost it is crucial to be able to give your wedding florist a rough idea how much you may be spending on your flowers in my wedding brochure I give a guide on what you may have flower wise for your wedding flower budget.

By telling your wedding florist your budget they can quote for floral designs with your budget in mind if you jot down your floral wish list and share this with your budget to your florist they can look at optimal visual impact maybe moving ceremony flowers to your wedding breakfast , alternatives or let the creativity flow give your wedding florist just your colour palette and let them create !!

A professional and experienced wedding florist will be transparent with you and what I mean by that is if you would like a full flower arch, ceremony ,wedding breakfast and bridal party flowers and you have budgeted a minimum spend with your wedding florist all of those floral wishes will not be possible.

Your florist will advise you accordingly so you will have beautiful flowers on your wedding day.

Most wedding florists have a minimum spend and also I have a minimum spend and this is to ensure that the final designs I create on your wedding day align with the floral vision for your wedding day, the content you see on my website and social media and my portfolio aligns with this , for those couples who have a smaller budget my simply elopement package may be more suitable .
