Planning your wedding flowers.

Updated: Sep 22

It can be overwhelming & daunting planning your wedding & i hope this guide will help you through planning your wedding florals, so you will have the most beautiful flowers on your wedding day & to enjoy the journey on planning your flowers.

Finding your wedding florist , a florist that aligns with your vision for your florals on your wedding day. There are some incredible florists out there with varying styles & its really important that you choose a florist who's work you love & click with .

If you are looking for a florist that has natural style , works sustainably & sources locally sourced blooms then research florists that work this way. Look at their portfolio of work , website , social media , meet them at wedding shows.

Instagram is a great one to look at see their current work & style, if you look at a venues list of recommended list of suppliers do so with an open mind as this can be more like paid advertising rather than a recommendation.

Look into your florists background, experience in weddings this is one of the most important days of your lives, & you should have a florist that is professional & highly experienced in weddings & be able to show you their real life weddings ( not ai !), reviews & be able to answer all your questions & queries .

Location of your florist is also helpful as on the day setup may be required & your florist will need to set up early , they may need to to on the day installations .

Don't be afraid to ask questions , does your florist have a minimum spend ? Do they hire lanterns , candlesticks, vases or tealights ? What is there wedding flower process ? A professional , experienced florist will be able to answer all these questions & more.

When should we book our wedding florist?

As soon as you have your date & venue booked start looking for your wedding florist .A fabulous , skilled & experienced florist will get booked up early & will likely only take one wedding per week.

Specific dates like bank holidays & summer months will be booked quickly, so book your florist 12-18 months in advance.

Some florists like myself will have waiting lists for their diaries that haven't opened yet just ask to be added.

I understand that dresses & suits may not be bought yet but if you have a particular florist in mind secure your date with a deposit. Don't worry about types of flowers , designs save pictures make a pintrest board to send to your florist before your consultation a good florist will advise & guide you.

Budgeting for your wedding flowers.

This is hard you don't buy wedding flowers every day & most couples are unaware of wedding flower costs .

I send out a wedding questionnaire to my couples so I can understand their expectations of their wedding day & a key question is wedding flower budget , I can then see budget & expectation to see if its achievable & advise them accordingly honesty & experience from your florist is key here.

Most florists have a minimum spend as we have to commit to a certain order from our wholesalers & work to a certain number of weddings per year & florists have other costs too for example staffing & insurance . My process is a free twenty minute phone call or zoom chat to see if my style aligns with your vision.

From there you can secure your date with a deposit & we book your consultation in & chat wedding florals with tea cake !

From there your proposal & mood board is created , we meet again to finalise all designs & full payment is required one month before your wedding .I am with you every step of the way i can always be contacted & happy to answer any questions along the way .

If you have just started to think about your wedding florals I hope this helps & we look forward to hearing from you .
